Topic: Scripts that only trigger during certain hours?

It is probable not worth it anymore, but I believe I did have a time of day script with the "pass the light at night" riddle in the Bards Tale mod. I also did some time of day scripting with the random and the house encounters in my modding, but I don't remember if it was ever released or ...

You are getting that because the system can't find the monster you are looking for.

The BT mod isn't compatible with the other mods, so if I remember correctly you would need a separate installation of DW to run. Of course, this was over 7 years ago, so I may be completely wrong.

There isn't a GUI to make map editing easier, it is all text based. However, it isn't too hard once you get the hang of it. I would recommend following along on some of the tutorials here. Dragonbait did a great job putting that together. Give it a shot, and post any questions you have.

With DW being such a niche game, and without any real marketing strategy, I can't imagine the sales were all that spectacular. Most of us got here by word of mouth or from a few of the game reviews which appeared online, but with a small company behind it it never got the push it really deserved.

Yeah, secret doors was never really implemented properly in the game, so they always show up on the map. Two of my bigger mapping complaints was that you could never really have a secret door without it showing up, and every wall can be phased, or warped, whatever it is called in DW. It really made ...

While the ingame pictures are in pic format, they can't seem to be opened from anywhere other than the game. As part of the toolkit, there is a Pictures folder which should have been unzipped. You would need to use the picMake application in that folder (you must run it in DOS) to create your own pi...

Question for any Bard's tale players

Hey, just a general question for anyone who used to play the original Bard's Tale games. I think everyone knows that the Spectre Snare is pretty much the most dominant weapon you can get, but my question is, what the heck kind of weapon is it anyway? Sword, Axe, Spear, that sort of thing. I have pla...

I don't think the problem was Game Maker, just my lack of understanding what the hell I was doing, and the lack of patience to keep it up. It really wasn't designed to make this type of game, but it is possible, just a bit over my head.

That is correct, there is no crafting in the BT mod. The intention was for it to be added with the BT2 expansion, but of course the developers dissappeared and never fixed the tools we needed, so nothing ever got done. I would still love to see the entire BT series reinvented with a modern platform,...

From the class file, the things that you can edit are the XP required for gaining levels, which races can be certain classes, as well as the initial starting equipment. Since this is probably an old file anyway (they changed the leveling a bit with the first patch, I believe), you can probably just ...

Well that sounds like it is your problem there. As I mentioned, DW had many issues, and this is one of them. Once you make any changes to your items text files (either the items, class, or itemcreate, which are in the same folder), you need to double click the ifltool application in the same folder....

So you tried editing the existing Obsidian arrows but they dont show up? Which shop are you looking at?

Can you get these arrows at all?

I will also say it just to say it, but you did recompile the file to creat a new dat file and placed it in your data folder, correct? :D

the inventory for all the shops is stored in the items.dat file, which is based on the items_BL2D file. You just have to add a line to the item to correspond to the shop you want it to appear at. For example: Shop: valor.dat 200 Shop: shop.dat 40 Shop: starfire.dat 100 Shop&a...

I know it is in there somewhere, but I couldn't remember where it was, so I am glad you found it. I have recreated this mod so many times, but just never had it the way I wanted to thanks to the DW limitations. I don't remember if I added any egotistical content to the original mod, but I will admit...
