No, it is the only mod that has to be run separately, but that makes sense. It was well worth it too.

The readme file tells you to do it only on a new game, not a current game. It is more than worth starting fresh. Once you get past this, you shouldn't have hiccups.

I play it on W7 with no issues. My first suggestion would be to uninstall it, then re-install it. If you haven't added the Megamod, I would highly suggest you do. In addition to adding many hours of fun to the game, it also incorporated some fixes.

If you are starting with just the game, I highly, highly, highly suggest that you start over with the Megamod. How goes the game. As far as the reward for the cloak quest, the true reward is XP. You will level up several times from the reward.
