You should be able to hit the D key, and it will ask you who to dismiss. Early on, I would keep them and put them in forward slots. They are good for absorbing damage.

You can always dismiss them once they have joined. If you deny when they ask, they will fight you, but if you dismiss them once they have joined, they just leave.

All of those answers are in the manual. All of the spells and effects are there. To answer the rest questions. You restore spell points when you rest-twice as fast if you rest during the day. As far as what to buy, most of the time if it costs more, it is better. Not always, but certainly early on.

The defend rennibister quest isn't very long. You could tough it out, or start a fresh party and hold off before starting that quest.

I usually save right before leveling up, and if I don't like the numbers, I just reload and try again. I remember being pretty happy with anything 5 or better on HP gain.

They train in different areas, but all of the areas are near the temple, with the exception of an additional place the bard can level up.

It was made by the BTIII creator (Burger Bill(Becky) Heineman), and you can actually import BTI and BTII characters.
