Pick Pockets will empty treasure?

Post by Kobor »

Hi!

I am just started to play wiht this nice oldscholl game (I loved to play with Bard's Tale on my already sold Amiga100).

I am wondering if I steal money during battle, then the money is some extra (over the usual treasure), or the final treasure (that will be available after won the battle will) will be less with that amount stolen.

Yes, something else. If monster stole me duirng battle, will the whole amount be added the final treasure if I won? So I will get back the usual gold and mine as well?

Thanks a lot,
Kobor

While this is all unofficial, this is what I believe.

When you steal money from an opponent, that money is not deducted from the final treasure. This does and doesn't make sense. It makes sense to that fact that if any money that is stolen from the enemy and that money is deducted from the pool at the end, then why even bother having the pick pocket command at all. The reason it doesn't make sense is that if an enemy had 800 pieces of gold, and you steal 300 of it, how do you end up with 1100 pieces? Logically, it doesn't make sense, but I believe this is how it is.

Any money that is stolen from you is gained back once you kill the enemies. Of course, I can't guarentee this, but it seems that if I have 2000 gold stolen from me, the money I receive is always more than that, even against weaker opponents.

Thank you the answer Origen!

It is logical that the money I stole is reduced from the final treasure.

One exception could be, if the engine generate the amount of gold randomly only at hte end of combat, not counting how much I stole during combat. But I think too this should not be the case.

Then, stealing is not a big deal, if I would like to win the combet in most cases.

Well, once you gain a few more levels and play the casino a bit, you'll have so much gold that you won't even bother PP anymore.

Gold is rather easy to come by in DW.

One of the things I found about the gold when I played (a long time and many releases ago) was that gold was hard to get for the first few levels, but once you hit the low to mid teens, you pretty much never ran out again.

Usually, I have my back members shooting arrows, which are pretty easy to come by in the beginning. After it gets a little later in the game, I had my rogue using deathblow, and my mages casting spells.

Now, that deathblow really comes in handy! But there are some where it doesn't phase 'em as you already know. I find it really useful against Yevils though since I'm currently trying to finish the last fight in the guard tower which is really a pain with everyone spraying and poisoning my team. My first couple characters have HP in the 200's and the rest are lower. So perhaps I need to build up my team a bit more. But I am using the heck out of BLLI and Diits Eternal which helps out a lot.
