Seeing who is still around

Post by skaven510 »

I'm just curious if there is anyone still around. I haven't been here in quite awhile (I got frustrated with the CTD's and no hope of a new patch) but I'm back after playing Wasteland and getting sentimental for more of that kind of game. Even loaded CCS64 to play Bard's Tale but figured I should give Devil Whiskey another try and hope to god that it works for awhile.

Anyways, Origen and Growler are you still around? or have you gone the way of the DoDO bird?

They are still around. Each has posted lately. The forums have been a little dead lately. Origen and Dragonbait have mods in the works. And obviously I am around :)

I am around in theory. I look a lot more than I post. I was even looking at creating a BT style game similar to Warrior's Tale (using the same engine as well), but as of right now, that is still above my head. And I have the hopefully finished soon Temple of the Elements mod happening as well.

Glad to see you guys still here :) Well I'm off for my third try at playing DW. Hopefully with less CTDs this time.

Newbie here, just registered. Big fan of these type of games. I played the demo a little and liked it enough that I bought the game in the box with the full color manual.

It hasn't arrived in the mail yet though and Im going to wait for it to arrive before starting play (I like reading manuals first).

Any advice for a brand new player??

Im a big fan of the Bard's Tale games so I was excited to see this game.

I will probably be coming back frequently once I start playing.

Cheers!

Ahhhh.....yesssss..... Fresh Meat we likes, we do--yesss.

Ok, enuf Gollum-trolloping..speaky.

Welcome newbies 1 & awe! :P ( ) :P

Let us know how it's going.. meanwhile ye seek ad-vice, eh?

Well then... steer Very clear of one named Origen. ;)
He be the Whiskery Devil itself!

My general advice..

1--go for Hi Dex (initiative = good)
2--get a couple Ele's (Elementals) & learn how to use blinding spells
3--be cautious of who ye listen to within the game & without..
4--learn to craft weapons & armor ASAP
5--beware the Guard's Tower..where death itself (sorta) lurks..
6--do ya feel lucky, pumpkin?
7--if so then try yer lucky at z caSINo.. for extra moolah

Suggest manually backing up yer savegame file often.

Oh, and give a wench a kiss and she'll....well...you'll find out soon if not late enough!

Interesting, thanks for the feedback.

Hey Growler,

Pray thee tell me what you mean by this?

"3--be cautious of who ye listen to within the game & without.. "

Are there fellows in the game that lead you astray? Can you elaborate a bit for a newbie?

What part of the game is your favorite?

I wonder how long its gonna take to arrive in the mail so I can play.....

The box arrived in the mail today! Great!

I have to say very nice packaging, especially for an indy game. Im looking forward to checking out the manual.

Im guessing patch to the newest version before starting and then backup my save game file alot (Im thinking pretty much everytime I play Im gonna take a quick backup of it).

Im thinking I will install all of the mods\add ones when I start play.

I checked out Dragonbaits site, very cool so many great games that I love.

Jest jokin' re: #3 above about being cautious.. tho' that may be good general advice..

Yeah--I suggest backing up your savegame every time you play.. but depends on your tolerance for potentially losing your efforts due to corrupted savegame file, etc. I have low tolerance, so I even made multiple backups--ie, renamed each backup with indication of where in the game.. which dungeon lev or such.. only took about a min & just put an extra 'SaveGame' folder inside my main game folder.. so quick & easy.

May want to check with some others re: adding the mods when you first start playing--I seem to recall that some mods will over-write? or change original game stuff.. Dragonbait or Rickstavern or Origen can likely tell you what'll work.

Meanwhile, enjoy!

And let us know how it's going..
or we'll have to sic the horrible O-man (aka, Origen) on ye!!
