A know class act from a no class act. How low does this board go?

Actually, Rogues are not on the list because Quickpaws (http://devilwhiskey.shifting-suns.com/f ... c.php?t=45) already won first place, and this poll is to determine second.

Truth be cold, I kindagree with the Dom...my Rogue (tho' I liked her) never lived up to her potential...even at a pretty high level, with excellent stats (incl. an unbelievable luck-stat!), & all the cool Shadow-wear/gear...Still couldn't hide to save her hide! :? After numerous turns & just as everyone else had pretty well obliterated the bad bunch o' baddies, my Rogue would Finally manage to hide in the dang shadows. 'Course, by then it really didn't matter!

That said, I don't know how the Rogue got left outta the poll? I recall typing in 'Rogue' but then must've accidently deleted it :? Apologies to all the Rogue-lovers outhere! (or, Red-Faced Rougies as we used to call 'em!)

Don't see any option to add the Rogue now...anyone else know how to alter the poll (sans a complete poll-wipe/reload)? ...Would prolly take a devi-God! to manage it, eh?

Really, a lot of the DW classes just don't seem to match up as well as their BT/ect counterparts did at various points. Rogues and Rouges both are rather useless, Rangers have limited use, Bards have no use, Psyknights only later on and by then you can do better, Pallys later on, but much like the Psis you can do better... a full party of spellcasters whomps anything ten levels higher I think.

Close...main prob with a fool party o' mages is that they'll get whomped early in the game; a mob of townies & some angry dwarves will spank 'em fore they can figure out which end of their wands to point

So, if you're gonna play fair (no cheating), ya pretty much gotta start out with some tanks up front who can shake'n'bake... so I think Wom's got it nearly right for an optimum (if not terribly interesting) crew:

4 warriors (hammer out some PLS's & ThunderHammers--post-patch)
3 ele's (get 'em DUST & BLLI asap)
1 arc

Any other angles on an optimum party?
(other than invite lots of grrrls?) :P

I reckon it would be more interesting if there was more interaction between the race and class aspects. for example, what if the Geomancer had a spell that would make the ground give up any gold in the current or adjacent squares (mining?), but would only work if the Geo is a dwarf?

On the topic of the usefullness of a rogue I have had great lick with my rogues, that's the one class i always include in my party.

Psi-Knights never seemed to be ofg much use, and although the Red-Claw is
a good Fighter they still don't get Barbarian skills like they are supposed to.

Hopefully this will be fixed in the next patch.

Cheers

So can we put ya down for 1 Rogue?

(by the way, better watch out for too much rogue-licking! Jest never knowhere one of their sordid sort has been..:?)

In what ways have you had good lick..I mean, LUCK with yer rogues?
Can you provide some specs?

I'm curious cuz my roughly 40-lev rogue had such a hard time hiding in shadows (pre-wreck to achieving DeathBlow ~ which didn't work all that great either). However, don't think shever failed to pick a lock..?

Luv to knowhat the 'hide-in-shadows' calculation is! 8)

Interesting also to know if it varies with day / night, fog, etc.

I have to admit that Quickpaws doesn't bother to hide in shadows or pickpocket or lick  or do any of that Rogue stuff. She just stands out in front and does about 800 HP of damage each round.

Need tanks in front, mages in back, naturally. But I'm expecting that the difficulty increase and other changes in the next patch will alter what we put in our parties, besides all grrls.

I'll assume, Shaf, that you have a female Rogue... otherwise that's too disturbing to contemplate...

I played a three character party once, two elementalists and a lone arcanist. Had no problems whatsoever getting to level 3, where I got that one mass damage spell. After that it just got boring.
