If you have an Audigy or X-FI with the CMSS option, I highly recommend you try it with this game. Use CMSS2.
It adds a wonderful 3D stereo effect that sounds tons better than without CMSS2, or even CMSS. It's not quite true stereo, and it's obviously not 3D positioning, but the effect sounds close enough that I will now never play without it.
(I never use CMSS, but something made me try it with this game, and wow!)
