party based rpgs

Post by zshemp »

I really enjoyed this game. Anyone know a few more games similar. I like turned based games with parties. Stuff similar to the old Wizadry and Bard"s Tale series.

Have you tried Dragon Wars, or Warriors Tale? And of course, the first 9 of AD&D series games.

Are you talking about the SSI gold box series starting with Pool of Radiance? I played all of those on my C64 back in the day then again a few years ago when they were re-released. I also played the Ultima series up to VI, Wizadry serices. Wiz8 was not easy to get my hands on. All the Might and Magic series. Most of the Elder Scroll series. And all 3 of the original Bard's Tale. But this game has been out for a while and I just stumbled across it. I was looking for something off the beaten track. I really like the pen and paper feel it has. I have Warrior's tale havnt gotten into it yet. Played it for about 20 minutes the other day.

Warriors Tale is definitely worth the time. You didn't mention Dragon Wars though.

It was made by the BTIII creator (Burger Bill(Becky) Heineman), and you can actually import BTI and BTII characters.

Yep. Dragon Wars is really excellent, while keeping the Bard's Tale feeling and having a skill system similar to Wasteland.

Edit : yup, you assumed right (didn't even see the ambiguity... foolish me)

Edit 2 : I think I'll play it again, with a brand new party (still have my old one, that got through the game many times)

I assume you mean Dragon Wars, not Devil Whiskey?
