Version #

Post by Beorn »

Just getting started, after picking this up as part of the GamersGate bundle.

I unzipped the MegaMod which I understand includes patch 2.01b, and it appeared to work/be at the correct level because I got the overwrite warning.

But the splash screen as I start the game says Devil Whiskey 2.0

Any chance that splash screen is misleading? Or is there some way that megamod does not really apply the patch?

(I hate to apply the patch manually after Megamod, not knowing if that breaks something.)

Yeah, the patches and megamod do not update the version number that is listed in the game as far as I can tell. If you have applied one of the patches, or have applied the megamod, you can be assured the files have been updated, however it may not change the 2.0 from being listed as being the version when starting the game. Changing the version number from the startup screen requires that the code be released (which it has not). Not sure why the official patches do not update this but apparently they do not.

Got my party put together and started -- but then came to a disruption in my real life. And I hate playing RPGs in bits, a couple hours at a time, days in between. So I've put it aside until I have a longer stretch to concentrate, probably in November when things settle down around here.

Really reminds me of Wizardry (Dark Savant) though so I am sure I will like it.

I only played the very first Wizardry--which was great fun at the time. Did you play thru all the Wiz's?
