Now I know why.....

Post by The Wombat »

Why California is called the "Land of fruit and nuts".

The Fruits live in the northern half and the Nuts live in the southern half!

So what am I doing sitting on the dividing line?

That's harder to answer than most Koans I've heard! :?

*Growler meditates high in a tree for trillions of pico-seconds*

thus, after 2 full seconds, the answer arises of its own accord...quite like the lotus that blossoms with no instruction from any sensei..

"..um, yer becoming a 'frnuit' or a 'nufruit' "?

Hmm.... You know I think you are 99% accurate in that assessment Wombat....

The other 1% being me.... I am not a nut, but it appears that every one else around me is... They are all crazy and I must be the only sane one here.... hehe

I always figured there were nuts in both north and south, and that we only hear about the local ones in the news because there wouldn't be time to cover them all.
I agree that doug must be the sane one. The only one left... Don't worry, the zombies and I will get him tonight.

Tomorrow: I go out in the woods looking for a tree about to fall, and step in bear ork pudding.

If a man says something in the forest, and there is no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?

Heck, a man does not even need to speak for his wife to "know" that he is wrong....

Yep, a man - by default - is wrong until a woman agrees with him. Either he can't even get being wrong right ( :? ) or just got lucky once.

Well, here lies a chance for you guys to be right for once in yer near-useless XY-contributing lives!

Who can tell the covert signage expressed in these three items:
Silver Circle
Silver Triangle
Silver Square

{they're each found in BT-I, but ever more do they portend 8)}

remember to think outside the box...

Bonus Points awarded for solving the mystery of some forum-member's moniker:
? ~ who is QuickSilver of the C?

Super-Bonus for true fans only:
"Dr Mikes tamed me"

:?
:|

On the remote, far-off-chance (highly statistically unlikely) someone actually got all three...well, I'd have to do something special to express my perturbance..

1. Ummm....Pentagon?

2. HGamer. As in Hg, the symbol for mercury, AKA quicksilver.

3. Ahh, an anagram possibly?

1. good guess, but no fruitcake!
(What? -you threw away the BOX!?)
& (symbols drawn might reveal
the nature of their mammonic business..)

2. Right on! (HG is the fruitcake..uh, feller..specialist!)
....but why "...of the C" -eh?

3. ..ARAGMAN...hmm, getting warm!

{I betcha a good, original Bard could Tale us the answers to the Unknown :?}

1. The 3 silver shapes needed in BT1 to get into the room with Mangar.
2. Of the C? Aside from referring to California, I don't know.
3. = IRKM DESMET DAEM, and probably a very ancient (i.e. stinky) herring of the reddish kind.
I'll admit that I consulted the BT1 cluebook text for 2 of those answers.

Ding, Dang, Dong!
Can't believe ya got the last one!
*Growler howls as he explodes in a fiery conflagration*

*then, Phoenixically, he returns refreshed & ready to remain resolutely phlegmatic for the remainder*

And you're skating close with the 1st one...ye may recall I described #1 as 'covert signage' expressed--not the overt usage...
symbols drawn may reveal
mammon residing behind the seal..

C for Californiactually is good enough I might've used that, but this 'C' takes an intermediate languagey transtep...note the literal syntax & sound: "QuickSilver of the C"
& whence ye do
return to me,
designed for you
a reel trophy!

Since no one said it yet, the 3 shapes represent Electronic Art's logo at the time.

I'd give Origen the trophy then, because I went for the easy "first stage of meaning" answers.
Strange about "of the C", because I've worked for the US Navy for quite a few years now, but never on a base at the shore and haven't been on a ship as part of my job yet. But that's knowing more about me than even I sometimes do.

Origen, don't hold back!
But yep, ya got it!
OA

Looks like I'll have to break the trophy into 3 sections for each of ya getting one...hmm, that's gonna pose an ontological problem..

And yet "..of the C"
Remains an oceanic mystery
Off the far French coast
What they'd call sea
Is the nexus betwix
HGamer & true-knowing
of each groan all three..

Riddles in the deep,
Riddles in the dark,
Riddles in the middle,
Quantum sans quark!

The sires you bear
Before God & King
Will catch unaware
A tiny round thing.
This they may use
Ere the end come round
And stave destruction
For all but if they refuse.

When it comes to fruitcake & navy blue hell,
My advice to you is, "Don't ask; never tell."
